AI-based Sound Identities for IKO-3D-audio sound projector

The work utilises generative sound processes of turntablism as well as human and AI speech interactions. These are spatialised through an IKosaeder 3D-audio loudspeaker instrument. For this purpose, a series of 12″ records were produced using the lathe-cut method.

These recordings include feedback from the turntable’s pickup, mechanical noise from the turntable (platter, drive, internal parts), as well as text passages spoken by a voice clone mimicking the natural voice of the performer.

The recordings are spatially moved and arranged through an IKO speaker to form new psychoacoustic pulse structures.

Simultaneously, live turntablism techniques are employed at the DJ console. This allows the formation of new sound layers, accentuating different frequencies and spatial modes, and creating sculptural synthesis forms.
